Carlton McDaniel, Sr.

Interim Senior Pastor
Rev. Carlton S. McDaniel, Sr. is a graduate of Mercer University (B.A.) and of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (M. Div.) Additionally, he has completed Clinical Pastoral Education 1 with the School of Pastoral Care of the North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Inc.

Rev. McDaniel was the Senior Pastor of Highland Baptist Church for twenty-five years, and retired in April of 2002. Since his retirement from Highland, Rev. McDaniel served as Interim Pastor at:

First Baptist Church, Collinsville, Va (28 months) Piney Grove Baptist Church, Mount Airy, NC (14 months) White Oak Baptist Church, Archer Lodge, NC (28 months)

Rev. McDaniel completed training by the Center of Congregational Health, a division of the North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Inc. School of Pastoral Care, for Interim Ministry for Today's Church and Intentional Interim Ministry. Workshops and conferences required to maintain certification have included topics on communication, staff development, emotional intelligence, preaching during the interim, strategic planning, and grief issues in the church associated with a pastor's departure.

Rev. McDaniel is presently a member of Aversboro Road Baptist Church in Garner where he serves as the teacher of an adult Bible class. Rev. McDaniel is married to Geraldine and has two adult children, Carlton Jr. and Gerrie.
